Macro- environment: highest level layer, factors identified in this layer impacts all organisations to some degree (pestel, to identify key drivers of change) Industry (or sector): constituted of all organisations that produce same products or services. Competitors (or market): layer closest to organization, within industry or sector, some organisations will be competing closer than others. Heuristic device: enabling person to discover or learn something themselves, critical thinking. Conceptual framework that helps us understand processes by which organizations take inputs, add value through transformation process, and produce outputs. Map out orga(cid:374)izatio(cid:374)(cid:859)s pro(cid:272)ess a(cid:374)d ide(cid:374)tity opportu(cid:374)ities to i(cid:374)(cid:272)rease (cid:448)alue. Primary activities: inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, market/sales and service. Support activities: firm infrastructure, human resource management, technology development and procurement. Primary activities are not more or less important than support activities. Service: to adjust to needs and wants of consumer.
