The southern dynasties came to an end with the reunification of china in ad 581 under the sui dynasty. The sui dynasty was short lived but many missions were sent to it. The tang dynasty was founded in ad 618. Funan was a major link in a shipping network. Oc-eo decline was brought about by changes in the coastline.
