Symbolism is language that we communicate out hidden thoughts to one another and develops our consciousness and ability to relate to the world around us. Sacramentality: deals with and revers the things of this earth. Earth, air, fire, water: used in worship, reflects liturgy. Contingency: being aware of the uncertainty in life leads to wonder (gleeson) People mature through contact with other human beings. Courage to engage in conversations that challenge us allow us to become more mature and responsible. Magic if lost in symbolism and emptied of meaning. Rite or ritual: symbolic action or group of symbolic actions which are repeated regularly and which have prescribed form (tacitly or explicitly). symbolic actions often a key core sign/symbol in the ritual.
