Station One: Teaching Station (Assessment Opportunity)
Individual Teaching Station T-Ball Strike
Instructions
1. Students are to take turns in a two handed strike activity where they will be
required to hit a ball off of a tee
2. While students will rotate through the various batting stations, one group will be
recorded with the BAM Video Delay application.
3. Students can then see how they performed the required skill, and look for areas of
improvement
Key Teaching
Points
- Students will need to stand side on to the target area
- Feet should be should width apart, weight on the students back foot
- Bat Grip: hand closest to the handle end matches the front foot
Equipment
- Cones to mark boundaries
- Tee ball bat
- Small ball (tennis ball, soft ball, tee ball, plastic cricket ball)
- Tee ball stand
- iPad to record students as they perform the skill
Variations
Students can use different materials in order to vary this activity
For example,
- Modified equipment (Softer bats)
- Home-made equipment (Bat from a milk carton and wrapping paper roll)
Station Two: Practice Station (Focus Skills in Different Context)
Cricket Strike
Instructions
1. With a partner, one student will throw the ball and the other student will hit the
ball with a cricket bat using the skills of a two handed strike
2. This action will rotate between the partners
Key Teaching
Points
- Students will need to stand side on to the target area
- Feet should be should width apart, weight on the students back foot
- Eyes should be focused on the ball
- Bat Grip: hand closest to the handle end matches the front foot
- Front foot steps forward
- Hips then shoulders rotate forward
- Follow through around the body
Equipment
- Cones to mark boundaries
- Cricket ball and Tennis ball
- Wickets
Variations
Students can use different materials in order to vary this activity
