The word theology is derived from a composite greek word that literally means words (logos) about god (theos). The study of god involves a range of academic inquires that pertain to christian faith: Biblical studies (old testament/hebrew scriptures and new testament) Academic theology and religious studies are not the same thing. Religious studies is concerned primarily with a neutral or non-confessional study of religion or religion as a human phenomenon. Catholic theology without being catholic it is impossible do it.
