Psychometrics makes two fundamental assumptions about the mental constructs it atte. Refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behav. There are a (finite) number of dimensions on which people can differ. Balances in your bodily fluid determined your personality. Factors consist of items that correlate highly with each other but lowly with other item it attempts to measure: ehaving (apa) items on the scale. Raymond cattell used factor analysis to identify 16 personality factors". Eysenck used factor analysis to reduce cattell"s 16pf into 2 factors: And these were mapped on to hippocrates" 4 humours. Eysenck later included a 3rd factor called psychoticism. Misnomer: refers to aggression, coldness, lack of empathy, manipulativen. These personality traits are thought to be seen in animals above a certain level of intel part of it life.
