Like any assessment item at QUT, late submission leads to a mark of 0.
There will be no extensions given! If a major intervening event occurs, apply for a Deferred

● No longer an essay question as in past years
Remember the content is hypothetical!
ISAAC methodology
● Issues (key questions – become headings)
● State law (what legal rule/s relate to the issue?)
● Authority (what case/section provides authority for the statement of law)
● Application of law to facts (how does the law relate to the scenario?)
● Conclusion (answer the issue)
Frameworks for answering particular types of questions have been explained in the lectures
and practised in the tutorials
Do the readings on parts you don’t understand
Formatting
● No need for any title page or assessment cover sheet.
● Submit your answer as a .doc file (Apple users select the compatible file type).
● Write in size 12 Arial or Times New Roman font. Use 1.5 line spacing.
● Referencing: authorities do not need to be footnoted - just refer to them in brackets
in the text itself.
● Acts Interpretation Acts can be abbreviated to ‘AIA’ (remember though to use the
correct jurisdiction’s AIA)
○ You can abbreviate the Act in the statutory interpretation scenario in a similar
fashion if you wish
● Cases only need parties’ names
