Results in multiplication there is microbial colonization (growth) Disease occurs when the cells in your body are damaged. A result of the infection and signs and symptoms of an illness appear. Harmful alteration to physiologic or metabolic state. The microbial agent: genetic adaptation and change. The human host: human susceptibility to infection, human demographics and behavior. Lack of public health services: animal populations, war and famine.
