Systems compartmentalize vital processes that function towards a common goal. Systems are composed of parts, which interact with each other. Systems have a boundary, but can receive inputs and send outputs through those boundaries. E. g - the human body and its systems: we recognize these as a useful way to divide and conquer all the parts of the body even though many parts may be common to two or more systems. System - group of components that function together as a complex whole. State - set of attri(cid:271)utes that de (cid:374)e the syste(cid:373) at a parti(cid:272)ular ti(cid:373)e. Interactions within the system: e. g atmosphere drives ocean currents. Positive coupling - an increase in one system drives an increase in the other: e. g. , increased atmospheric winds drive a stronger ocean current - positive coupling.
