Document Summary

Social vulnerability to climate change in the pacific islands. Climate change is a social problem with environmental characteristics. Human activities are the cause to the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases. What we have done to improve" our lives which has resulted to climate change. However this does not infer to all people, as not all groups of people are equally responsible. 80% of the greenhouse gases come from the developed countries, not from the people who are living day to day lives in order to survive. Climate change puts risk to things that we value. Eg: pure drinking water, food, places to go. But not all people are equally at risk. People in developed countries tend to be not mindful to those who are suffering each day (like people suffering from drought in east timor) Responding to climate change requires social changes. To adapt to avoid damages arising from changes in climate.
