Baby boomers sort of started the generations talk. The way we act changes as we get older so in generation definition do patterns. C wright mills - the sociological imagination. Mannheim was a key thinker in talking generational sociology. Each generation will have differences within it. Don"t think of theories as competing but as side-by-side ways to think. Talcott parsons developed structural-functionalism looks at major structures of society, including economy, political, to determine what systems of society work. We look at human societies and their main structural differences, but we also looks at what remains the same, what is stable, interested in continuity. A lot of the clothes we own, food we eat, etc. is part of a globalized chain (macca"s) Different flows of info, finance, people, material, ideas & values.
