The generation gap: anya and trofimov are excited to move along with the change in russia. Chekhov s an environmentallist: celebration of the natural world, ecological awareness. Action: begins with a reunion and ends with a separation, key action takes place outside of the stage - the auction of the orchard, the sound of the axe chopping down the cherry orchard. Habits: rthe characters retreat behind the patterns of everyday life, the banality and the minutiae of existence.
