Graffiti has a very high political profile. Young men often targeted as being dangerous or an offense to society one got picked up for having art supplies for his arts class. Parallel between a clean community and a safe one - graffitihurts australia. Billboards could be acceptable bc they operate within a system of control whereas graffiti shows the lack of control because it is an act of resistance. General fear that if we allow graffiti to increase then we have an increase in crime rates overall. Already relies on the idea that graffiti is a criminal act. Assumption that those who graffiti are antisocial, no care for the environment they live in, defective (conventional narrative) Supergo: have a bigger sense of the world around you, start to become part of the bigger social order. Criminals overcome with id (what the child has) That graffiti writers are just different from other people.
