Document Summary

Many examples of homozygous alleles that will die so must be heterozygous or you die. Variable expression degree of severity of the phenotype (how strongly it is expressed) Penetrance (cid:449)he(cid:374) there"s a group of i(cid:374)di(cid:448)iduals (cid:449)ith the sa(cid:373)e ge(cid:374)otype but (cid:374)ot e(cid:448)eryo(cid:374)e has the same phenotype e. g. eyeless partly expressed wild type. Lethality a combination of alleles that kills the organism. Dominant lethality kills hh or hh (hh usually late onset) Recessive lethality require either aa or aa to die. Genes which respond to environmental cues and are being switched on or off by different temperatures e. g. cholesterol testosterone (aromatase) oestrogen. Aromatase production is temperature sensitive increases at higher temperatures. More aromatase means more oestrogen (females) and less testosterone so fewer males. A genotype may change the expected sexual phenotype transformer gene. Cells must be sensitive to androgen otherwise default to female.
