Document Summary

Nerve fibre = axon tract= cns nerve= pns. Cell body of sensory neuron is outside of cns. Efferent (motor) carry from cns from ventral (anterior) spinal cord. Afferent (sensory) carry to cns from dorsal (posterior) spinal cord. Dermatome- area of skin mainly supplied by a single spinal nerve. Myotome- group of muscles by single spinal nerve. To know when to see a functional deposit and being able to pinpoint the exact spinal nerve which isn t functioning. Peripheral nerve is comprised of multiple spinal nerves (plexus) Phrenic nerve- innervates the diaphragm and allows breathing. Pink= preganglionic neuron (longer in parasympathetic) blue= postganglionic neuron (longer in sympathetic) Chain of ganglia (cell bodies) are all down the spinal cord and are the site where pre and postganglionic neurons meet. Not stuff we have to think about doing, just basic body functions. *autonomic neurons in the gut wall are the 3rd component of autonomic system.
