Educ262 week 11 tutorial mental health. One in five students in k-12 will experience a mental health challenge. A quarter of young australians say they are unhappy with their lives. Only 25% of those who need it get professional help. Bringing in someone externally allows for a different perspective from a professional. Talking to teachers one on one allows for confidentiality so as to not embarrass students or create a gossip session about students. Specific welfare team which allows them to purely focus on the students welfare without having classroom teachers perform extra work. Students may not know they have a mental health problem so experts can make them aware of it and help early. All students do report, meaning no students get singled out. Better coordination of programs for individual students. Starting halfway through the year could mean that students may have mental health issues early in the year which could be overlooked.
