HLTH109 Lecture 5: L5 - elbow
Document Summary
Movements of the forearm at the elbow joint. Movements of the upper limb radioulnar joint. Articulating surfaces 1. trochlea of humerus with the trochlear notch of ulna. Innervation: capitulum of humerus with head of radius. Anastomotic network: collateral and recurrent branches of brachial, profunda brachii, radial, ulnar arteries. Mainly radial and musculocutenous nerve, also ulnar and median nerves. The elbow joint is made up of the joint between the trochlear notch and trochlea, the capitulum, and the head of the radius. The fat pads in regions overlying the radial artery, coronoid and olecranon fossae. Allows the head of the radius to slide against radial notch and pivot on the capitulum during pronation/supernation. Articulating surfaces head of radius (cid:449)ith a (cid:858)slee(cid:448)e(cid:859), for(cid:373)ed (cid:271)y radial (cid:374)ot(cid:272)h of the ul(cid:374)a a(cid:374)d the a(cid:374)(cid:374)ular. Pronation and supination of forearm (together with distal radioulnar joint) Left elbow and radioulnar joint from medial side.
