Document Summary

Dtn301 week 10 cancer and food safety 2. Refresher: metastasis is the spreading of cancer to other parts of the body. Cancer is a malignant growth or tumour that results from abnormal or uncontrolled cell division. Initiators are factors that cause mutations that give rise to cancer, such as radiation and carcinogens. Treatments include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormone therapy. Studies to date indicate that dietary patterns and lifestyle factors may be greater biomarkers than exposure to specific nutrients. The world cancer fund and the american institute of cancer research published a comprehensive report on food, nutrition, physical activity, and the prevention of cancer in 2007. The following tables are based on the findings presented in this report, following each table will be recommendations from the australian dietary guidelines and the level of evidence it is based on. Cereals (grains), starchy roots, tubers & plantains: dietary fibre in particular has been associated with being protective against colorectal cancer.
