Supply Chain:
Network of entities that furnish material, equipment, technologies and services required by business event
managers to enable them to produce an event
Flow of goods, services and information between the entities
Procurement of the goods, services and information
Event Supply Chain Model:
Resources are the goods, services and
information supplied to upstream recipients
within the supply chain
Suppliers are the entities that provide or sell
resources to upstream recipients within the
supply chain
Business Event Managers: entities that produce business events either as owners or as organisers working on behalf
of owners
Participants: entities that create the demand for business events and attend or are represented during their
production or staging
Classifying Suppliers:
The stakeholder category of supplier may be described in terms of five distinct classes with each class made
up of a number of different types of suppliers
Emphasis is on exhibition and meeting suppliers
Professional conference organiser’: an entity that produces meetings (tasks include: accommodation for delegates,
marketing the event, developing the programme, risk management, finance and revenue)
Professional Exhibition Organiser: entities that specialise in Exhibition (tasks include: planning, organising,
production, staging)
Private Venue Manager:
Operate as a business enterprise and have profit creation as their primary objective
Have little concern for the economic benefit they may bring into a community
Focus is on consumer and private social events
Are involved with primarily derive their income from renting venue space and have as their prime objective
