Document Summary

Objections for measuring data: description, monitoring, research and adaptive management. If you use inaccurate data you will come up with misleading results. Experimental design relates to what questions we are trying to answer, should take in alternative explanations for phenomena and the development of a clear hypotheses. Hypothesis: a prediction that proposes an explanation for observations. For statistical analysis the hypothesis is usually that there is no different between populations being studied. Therefore we are testing the null hypothesis (h0). We test the null hypostasis to see if there is significant difference between populations. The result either supports or rejects a hypothesis. Variable: a property which may take on different values. Independent variable (iv): variable we manipulate in an experiment. Dependant variable (dv): variable we hypothesise will alter as a consequence of manipulation.
