Document Summary
Accurate, informative, to the point and complete as possible: usually less than 10 words, but explanatory and descriptive. Specific rather than general terms: no abbreviations, acronyms or jargon. Abstract: what was studied, how it was studied and the major findings. 150-250 word limit: one paragraph that is a summary of the entire paper. Should be possible to determine the major points of a paper by reading the abstract. Introduction (1-2 sentences), aim, method, results, discussion (1-2 sentences), importance of work being done. Explaining what the data means and summarise the results. Information necessary to understand the focus of the study, the results and the implications. Materials and method: n value of the study. Should have a text component as well to describe what was found. Figure legend: explanation of what is shown (for a graph= axis, groups, n numbers), how these results were obtained and a brief description of the trend observed.
