The nurse need to know what and how ischemia is caused. Ischemia is a deficiency in blood supply to a part of the body resulting in decreased oxygen supply. If it is ongoing and severe the cells will die without access to a normal blood flow which is also called infarction or necrosis. Ocular ischemic syndrome (ois) is a rare, but vision-threatening condition associated with severe carotid artery occlusive disease (stenosis or occlusion) leading to ocular hypoperfusion. Principal symptoms include visual loss, transient visual loss, and ischemic ocular pain. Heart causes angina due to cardiac arrest.
