Patients to undress to waist and change into a radiolucent gown. Bra removed as clip will show up. C3 to t2 to t3 vertebral bodies. Space between pedicles and intervertebral disc spaces clearly seen. No rotation mandible and base of skull will be superimposed over the first two cervical vertebrae. Close lateral collimation to soft-tissue margins of the neck, upper and lower collimation borders to ir margins. Optimal exposure to demonstrate both bone and soft-tissue density. Bony margins and trabecular marking should appear sharp indicating no motion. Patient lies supine or stands as upright as possible with arms by the side. Align msp to cr and midline of ir. Adjust head so that the line from tip of mandible to base of skull is parallel to angled cr.
