Document Summary
Week 2 - if it hasn"t been done yet, why is it called research. Research is the systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions. Systematic investigation - is a process to test theories and hypothesis (a single assertion/proposed explanation of something based on available knowledge, for something yet to be explained. Process of research: identify the research problem, review the literature, specify a research purpose, collect data, analyse and interpret data, report and evaluate research. Di erentiate fact from fiction > reach new conclusions. Quantitative numerically driven collection of data based on numbers from which we can generate outcomes that are. Discriptive e. g. what were the characteristics of the group correlational e. g. what what was the relationship between measured variables. Based on observations or discussions in groups or individuals. Often highly theoretically - driven in design and analysis. Phenomenology - understanding how humans experience the world.
