Autonomic - regulates smooth muscle, cardiac muscle and glands secretions. 2 types of peripheral nerves - spinal and cranial nerves. Spinal nerves - the main nerves that exit the spinal cord to innovate the corresponding body segments. Cranial nerves - arise at the brain stem and have various sensory and motor functions. Spinal and cranial nerves have three protective layers; Epineurium - outer most protective layer of the nerve and continuous with the dura mater of the brain and spinal cord.
