Three more lie superficial to these muscles, in a sort of strip-like way. Whole group of muscles supplied by obturator nerve. Quadriceps tendon - as it comes down to tibia. Has the patella embedded in this tendon - improves how the muscle acts at knee joint. Patella ligament - from patella to tibia (also called a ligament) Other three muscles also insert into this rectus femoris. Vatus lateralis - under and lateral to rectus femoris. All vastus and rectus femoris cause extension of the knee.
