BIOL3186 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Latissimus Dorsi Muscle, Rhomboid Major Muscle, Abdominal Wall
Document Summary
Need to be able to recall the actions and innervations, not attachment. For muscle to move a joint, it must cross the joint. If a muscle crosses elbow, when it contracts, it"ll move the elbow joint. Must be attached to the bones on either side of the joint. If a muscle crosses the front of the joint, it"s going to be a flexor joint (decrease angle of the joint) Similarly, if on the back of a joint, it"s going to cause extension of the joint, increasing the angle. Knee and ankle are back to front (plantor)flexors on back, (dorsi)extenders on the front. When a muscle passes the lateral side of the joint, it will produce abduction. When it passes the medial side, it will produce adduction. Recall: the spinal column does not do these, it does lateral flexion. Therefore, it"ll have left and right lateral flexors. Rotation she does demos saying like this and like that get notes from someone.
