Changing challenging behaviours: challenging behaviours can be reinforced either through positive or negative reinforcement, the same behaviour may serve a different function for different individuals. Identifying the antecedents and consequences of challenging behaviours is key to designing effective interventions to change the behaviours. Indirect assessment: indirect assessments rely on reports about a person"s behaviour rather than direct observation of the behaviour, consider the advantages and disadvantages, advantage, track improvements, disadvantage, subjectivity, differences in ratings of behaviours (parents, teachers and self) Would only do it you want to verify the behaviour if you are unsure of the exact andecentant.
