Heroes and Anti-Heroes i Childres Theatre
- Heroes are not always boys and are not always matching the stereotype.
- Childres theatre is osidered to e oth eduatie ad siply etertaiig.

o The representation of characters on roles

▪ Can give the wrong message
o Presenting a multiplicity of roles and points of view

o Challenging stereotypes?
- Traditional fairy tales and literature abounds with hero type characters, gender
typographies and context, rescue, salvation, emancipation, perfect romances and
impossible evil.
o Typographies are good for kids
o All fairy tales contain stereotypes
- There has been a movement in recent times to change the traditional hero
Traditional Heroes
Contain
- Personal courage
- Care for others
- Perseverance
- Resourcefulness
- A belief in oneself
- Optimism
- Attractive
What about the Anti-Hero
- Anti-heroes are not considered powerful, either in economic or social terms.
- Yet the joy of living always heals them to continue in life
- They are compassionate, forgiving
