A solute"s concentration gradient is the region along where the density of a chemo substance increases or decreases. Substance tend to move down their concentration gradient and each have their own unique gradient. Diffusion is considered to be passive transport because no energy is required. Substances diffusing naturally go down their concentration gradient.
