All through the war they developed the atomic bomb. America wanted to use this weapon to show ussr that its better than them. Soviets wanted to get asia to be communist bc they didnt want america to make it capitalist. They made fat man and little boy atomic bombs: containment, vietnamization: Americans fighting in the war goes down in enormous amounts. While we leave, we train and turn the war over to the south vietnamese army. While we pull out, we have more and more of our troops training south vietnam to fight their own war. This concept has been around ever since eisenhower. The problem was that it didnt work. South vietnamese army was corrupt, inefficient, soldiers that didnt want to fight. They wanted the americans to do all the work. This concept sounds great, but it often doesnt work. Us turned the war w the japanese.
