The test will be mostly multiple-choice questions with some short answer questions. Questions will range from identifying definitions or examples of concepts to questions that ask you to apply and extend your knowledge and make inferences based on what you"ve learned to determine the correct answer. Rhetoric (class definition)- human symbolic action (both verbal and nonverbal) with persuasive potential. Rhetorical situation a situation presenting an exigence that potentially can be addressed and/or modified through communication. Exigence an imperfection marked by urgency, a call for rhetoric. Criticism (in general) a process for developing a deeper understanding of an object in order to make an evaluation of that object according to specific standards. Rhetorical criticism a practice aimed at offering a richer understanding of rhetoric through the definition, description, analysis, interpretation and evaluation of situated rhetorical rhetorical and the discursive traditions that surround them. Argument a stated position with support for or against an idea of issue.
