However, there is variability in the population: we all possess the same characteristics, capacities, abilities, and conscious life. But we differ in terms of the extent of these characteristics. 3 research perspectives: behaviour genetics, evolutionary psychology, experience: culture, parents, and peers. Difference/variation: there are differences in height within the population. E. g. , there are differences in soccer abilities. (1) behaviour genetics: nature vs. nurture: behaviour genetics. Investigates the relative effects of heredity (nature) and environment (nurture) on behaviour: environment. Any non-genetic circumstances or conditions that surrounds an individual that influences our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. E. g. , nutrition, education, parents, peers, culture, social experiences: heredity. The genetic transmission of traits from parent to child.
