Document Summary

Study from both the notes and the textbook. Teach same concepts as book, but not exactly the same as the book! Most psychologists believe that both contribute to who we are. Interactions between nature & nurture influence & affect each other. There are 46 chromosomes in each cell (except the egg/ sperm). Chromosomes carry genetic information in the form of dna molecules. Genes are the basic unit of heredity, and are part of dna. They are responsible for the production and manufacturing of proteins. Genes can be active (expressed) or inactive (unexpressed). One single gene can be responsible for a trait/ behaviour. For complete mental processes, there may be multiple genes (gene complexes) working together. A (adenine), g (guanine), t (thymine), or c (cytosine) Sequence determines what a gene does/ does not do. Changing one nucleotide changes what the gene does (like changing a letter in a word)
