Background and context

The fluid balance is an important criterion for the stability of the cell. Various methods of cellular transport enable the movement of molecules into and out of the cell through the cell membrane. Small molecules are transported through diffusion and active transport. Large molecules like peptides, polysaccharides are transported into and out of the cells by forming vesicles around them. This type of cell transport is called endocytosis and exocytosis respectively.
