Background and context

All primates are originated from a common ancestor, but different groups have split off into a special lineage. As such, primates can be classified into prosimians, anthropoids, hominids, and hominins.
 
 
Prosimians include lemurs and tarsiers. Anthropoids include monkeys, apes, and humans. Hominids include apes, chimpanzees, and humans. Hominins include humans and their closest human-like ancestors who walked bipedally.
