Background and context
Gastropods are animals that have abdominal legs. They have a flattened leg on the belly side of their body and move forward with this leg via contracting the muscles. Gastropods include snails, shellfish, and nudibranchs.
On the other hand, cephalopods are animals that are head-footed. In these animals, the legs have tentacles next to the head. Cephalopods include octopuses, squid, and nautilus.
