Given information

Two elements  (Strontium) and  (Oxygen) are given and we have to determine the type of bond between them.

Step-by-step explanation

Step 1.

Strontium is an alkaline earth metal and oxygen is a non-metal.

Strontium have two electron in its valence shell whereas oxygen have six electrons in valence shell.

So, in order to form a bond to attain stability Strontium will loose two electrons.

Similarly, oxygen will gain two electrons to complete its octet.
