Blood vessels, the heart, and blood make up the circulatory system.  The circulatory system distributes oxygenated blood throughout the body and transports deoxygenated blood to the lungs. Arteries, veins, and capillaries make up its blood vessels. Veins transport deoxygenated blood, whereas arteries transport deoxygenated blood.
