Background and context

Angiosperms are a large group of plants that have flowers and produce seeds enclosed inside a carpel. This includes grasses, shrubs, herbaceous plants, and most trees. Cotyledons are an important part of the embryo. It is found in a seed. Monocotyledons are plants that have only one cotyledon. Dicotyledons are plants that have cotyledons.
