Background and context
In a system, the difference in the free energy or chemical potential of water and that of pure water at the same temperature and pressure is known as water potential. Water molecular possess kinetic energy and they are in constant motion in liquid and gaseous form, which is both rapid and constant. The greater its 'kinetic energy' or its 'water potential' when the concentration of water is greater in a system.
