Background and context

Sexual reproduction is the mating of two opposite sexes and results in more fit offspring. In this reproduction, the reshuffling of genes occurs. As a result, the offspring shows diversity. Hence, sexual reproduction is advantageous over asexual reproduction. It can produce the fittest organism than asexually reproduced organism. Sometimes the organisms have two different sex; they do not need a mate; they can produce eggs and sperm. Such organisms are called hermaphrodites.
