Given information

A power plant is built on a river which uses river water as a coolant. Coolant is a substance that is used to lower the temperature of any system. Now, the temperature of the water increases as it is used in heat exchangers within the plant. The question asked is, should this warm be immediately cycled back into the river or not.

Step-by-step explanation

Step 1.

Initially the temperature of the water reduces because of the coolant present there. But as the water is used in heat exchanger process, the temperature of the water again rises. As there is a sudden change in temperature, water should not immediately be cycled back to the river as this will harm the ecology of the whole water system.
