Background and context

The Earth is abundantly covered in water, which provides ideal circumstances for life to thrive. Almost seventy-one percent of the earth's surface is covered by this universal solvent. Water can be found as moisture in the soil, vapour in the atmosphere, streams, pools, and seas, and in all living creatures on the globe.
