Background and context
Ecosystems are made up of all of the biological communities that exist in a given area. This encompasses all biotic and abiotic variables, as well as their interconnections. A group of living species and their interactions with their abiotic (non-living) surroundings make up an ecosystem. There are ecosystems all around the globe, each with its own unique plant, animal, and climate life. Ecosystems can be modest, like the tidal pools found near many ocean's rocky coasts, or vast, like the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.
