Background and context
The experiment done by Meselson and Stahl was in support of the DNA double helix model proposed by James Watson and Francis Crick. In their experiment, Escherichia coli bacterial culture was made in a medium of Nitrogen 15 heavy isotope. It proved the semi-conservative method of DNA replication.
