Background and context

Transcription is the process by which the mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid) is synthesized from the double-stranded DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). Here, the complementary strands of DNA get separated and from the template strand, a new mRNA is produced to get ready for translation whereby the gene is expressed through protein production.
