Background and context

Morgan (1910) described the tendency of two genes to remain together due to their occurrence in the same chromosome. The intensity of the linkage between the two genes is inversely related to the distance between the genes in the chromosome. The recombination frequency anticipates the distance of genes of the two alleles of a homologous chromosome.
