Background and context

Agnathans are fish without mouths or paired appendages, and so are called jawless. Throughout one's existence, the notochord is there. The pancreas and spleen are not organized. The shape of their mouth is likewise round. This category includes lampreys and hagfish.

Whereas Gnathostomata are a species of fish with paired appendages and jaws. The fins can also be seen. Chondrichthyes and Osteichthyes are their classifications. Sharks, rays, chimaeras, ray-finned fishes, lobe-finned fishes, and terrestrial vertebrates are among the gnathostomes.
