Background and context
The microbes are really adaptable in nature. Some organisms can even tolerate harsh climates. Almost all prokaryotes have a cell wall that allows them to survive in both hypertonic and hypotonic conditions. This allows them to be the most abundant organisms in both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. They can even survive hypo saline and hypersaline conditions in the ecosystem. These are known as halophiles.
